Destination wedding films: Barbados
With our first blog post we thought we would do some catching up and review one of our wedding films from 2016. Where better place to start than Barbados for one of this years destination wedding films.
This was our third trip to the Caribbean in recent years but this would be our first wedding film shoot in Barbados, so we were very excited, especially arriving in lovely warm temperatures!
Our bride and groom, Jessica and Nigel simply could not have chosen a nicer venue for the ceremony which was set in the beautiful Hunte’s Gardens, located in the lush hills of St Joseph. Locations like these make the shooting of the wedding film such an easy job for us as there are amazing shots everywhere you turn.
Our main issue filming on the island was bringing in the equipment we needed due to restrictions and also a ban on importing drones. Luckily we had massive help and coincidence on our side as a family member, Christopher Cook-Johnson (Creative Junction) not only resides in Barbados but even runs a production company there, how fortunate can you get! So instead of going through any extra hassle we were gifted spare equipment and a drone to use on the day. Even more than that, Chris’ friend at Caribbean Aerial Photography even gave us some more help with capturing extra drone footage.
The day arrived and it all went swimmingly, thanks in no small part to Emma Corrie (Emma Corrie Design) and her team who ran everything perfectly. We left with bags full of footage and some amazing shots and memories of the day. (A shortened trailer of the footage can be viewed above.)
All in all due to the amazing sunshine, unbelievably friendly nature of Barbados, the locals, fantastic shooting locations and the weather (did we mention that?) the whole trip was just brilliant. We seem to say this all the time but with Jessica and Nigel, along with their families and friends, being so incredibly welcoming, friendly and fun, it was one of our favourite destination wedding films to date!
